#SecondHandSeptember

It's #SecondHandSeptember! We are joining our friends from Oxfam in celebrating the month of responsible and mindful fashion. The 30-day campaign encourages people across the UK to stop buying new clothes for the month in a bid to curb our fast fashion habits — and it's easy for everyone to get involved with.

While the change in how we buy fashion should be permanent, the campaign exists to help us all rethink the way we consume for the sake of the planet and its people. In the UK alone clothes that end up in the landfill every year weigh as much as the Empire State Building according to the research conducted by Oxfam.

Some simple changes in our lifestyle, such as shopping second-hand, can make a difference and contribute to the sustainable future of the planet. Oxfam explains: "Join Second Hand September and pledge to shop only second hand for 30 days or more. You'll give clothes a longer life by keeping them away from landfill and eventually contribute to the health of our planet".

There are plenty of ways you can get involved with the initiative. Take a look at some of our tips below:

Have a wardrobe clear out

Want more space in your closet? Sorting out the garments you no longer need will free up your wardrobe space and will definitely put you in a positive state of mind. The simple truth is that if you haven't worn your once-upon-a-time beloved dress in two years you won't wear it again. Why not to give your clothes a second life and earn some money.

Swap clothes with friends

We have been doing it so many times before we founded Loop Generation! It's fun, exciting and feels good. If you have items of clothing that you no longer wear, why not swap them with someone else? The item you no longer need could be someone else's treasure. Whether it's a dress, jumper or a winter coat, swapping clothes is much better than buying — and can help to curb fast fashion, too.

Shop second hand and MAKE FASHION GREAT AGAIN

Buying pre-loved helps to lower the overall demand for new clothing to be produced. Whether it's popping into your local charity store or purchasing online with us, doing so will help to prolong the life of items that would otherwise end up in the landfill. Never shopped second-hand before? #SecondHandSeptember is a great time to give it a go.
