How to best photograph your item

General rules

Welcome to our photography guide. First of all - you don't need to be a professional photographer in order to start listing your items with Loop Generation. You won't need a studio or a mannequin either and all you need is your smartphone camera and a plain background in a brightly lit room. You will find visual examples of how to best photograph your items in the tabs below with some specific guidelines depending on the product category.

Here are some basic rules that will apply to all kinds of items:

  • Always photograph the entire item, keep the background simple and avoid blurred or filtered images
  • Please upload a minimum of 6 images and a maximum of 10 images of your item. The more images you upload the better chances of selling the item but please avoid photographing the same part of the item twice
  • The first photograph should always show the front of the item (we will be using this picture to crop out the background so it matches the rest of our edit). Please make sure to keep your photograph
  • Please avoid placing your hand in the shots
  • Please avoid messy backgrounds
  • Clear, detailed photos improve browsing and increase selling potential
